Shiligarnika is the biggest ski centre in the Pirin mountain. It is situated 9km to the southwest of the town of Bansko and can be reached down an asphalt road. Shiliganika’s development started in 1985, when an open-seat cableway, having capacity of 800 people per hour, was built. At the lower end of the cableway, skiers can take a rest at one of the several tea rooms, small bars, restaurants or hotels. The cableway services several ski runs, while its end station lies at the height of 2450m in an area called Echmishta. The upper station of a draglift, servicing the Platoto ski run, can be also found there. Platoto is Bulgaria''s highest ski run, where one can continue skiing until May.
