Settlements: Stamboliiski
The town of Stamboliiski lies on the right bank of the Maritsa river, almost in the middle of the road connecting the towns of Plovdiv and Pazardzhik. Similarly to Septemvri, it has grown into a railway station-town in the end of the 19th century following the construction of a railway line to Belovo.
Stamboliiski is popular for its agricultural produce and food processing industry. It has several food processing plants in the town and plenty of fruit tree plantations, vegetable gardens and livestock farms around the town. The area was populated in the Iron Age, antiquity and the Middle Ages. Thracian mounds can be also found here.
