  villa list by pamela on 16 Feb 2009, 18:54 having just read the previous comments about the "terrible" hotel that Villa List is, this is UTTER nonesence. I went there for a 2 week holiday last year and loved it. The staff were so accomodating, and as for somebody saying "this is the only hotel where I had to make my own bed", this was not my experience what so ever! we had a lovely maid who changed the bedding daily, and even shaped the top layer of our covers into the shape of a swan! would 100% recommend this hotel and honestly could not fault it at all!

  Villa List Hotel by W.G.Whyte on 20 Sep 2008, 17:32 What a disappointment. Nothing like the brochure illustrations. Certainly not up to a 4 star rating apart from the few executive apartments. Many of the so called balconies could only seat one person and they were for double rooms. Absolutely no meal or snack facilities available at lunchtime and if you brought food in you could be charged 11 Levs. The breakfast buffet was satisfactory to start with although it was always scrambled eggs never a fried egg. As our two week stay progressed they stopped serving crepes and on our last two days there were no cereals available. This is the ONLY hotel in which I have had to make my own bed. The maid smoothed out the bottom sheet on cleaning the room, our upper sheets (which were duvet covers) were arranged in some pattern or other. The task to make it into a bed was left to the guests. Sheets were only changed every 3/4 days. The same with the towels, they were not changed daily. We were on B&B basis and went out for our evening meal. I made enquiries at reception about eating in and was told it would be 15 Lev for the buffet, never any reference to the first rate restaurant. One rainy night we asked at reception if the hotel had an a la carte menu ( they managed to produce 3 menus in the Restaurant) we had a super meal the one PLUS point. The hotel in failing to display a menu at the restaurant entrance lost a lot of income from hotel guests who may have opted to dine in the hotel. The management structure requires to be changed eg a Restaurant Manager with some vision to increase business and cater for the guests,a Wine waiterin the restaurant. A housekeeper to monitor cleaning of the rooms and the general areas etc. I will NOT be returning to this hotel

  Car rental at Hotel Villa List by Yves Glodt on 12 Sep 2008, 00:33 We were actually no guests of the Hotel, we only tried to rent a car from Villa List, and failed miserably... They have actually a nice offer for renting a SMART. So we went there on Tuesday around 12:00, and asked for a SMART for 6 days. We were told by the receptionist to come back one hour later as she needed to talk to the manager. So we came back one hour later and were told that our request is ok, and we should leave our name and phone number, and pick up the car the next day at noon. So we arrived next day at noon at the reception to pick up our reserved SMART. The (other than the day before) receptionist told us that the car was broken, and in repair, and we should come back tomorrow. We agreed, and left disappointed. The next day, at 12 I called the Hotel, and asked about our reserved SMART. I was told again that the cars were out of order and being repaired. Then I told them I would like to cancel my reservation and hung up. We were not guests at the Hotel. They have a very visible advertisement outside for their SMARTs, and no note that it would only be for guests. If ever we would go back to Sozopol, which I do not believe, for sure we would not stay in this hotel.

  Holiday 20th June to 4th July 2008 by M Parker on 09 Jul 2008, 19:41 I just come back from a 2 week holiday at this wonderful hotel. The party consited of me, my husband and my mum and dad. ages 38, 42, 67 and 64. After reading the previous comment on this hotel I was a bit nervous about what I would find. I am very pleased to report that I did not recognise the hotel from the previous description. We were all given sea view rooms without having paid the suppliment and the staff are very friendly and speak good english. Yes there is no bar at the pool but are 8 steps too many to climb. If you are on teh bottom level on the sunbathing area with the indoor pool then there is also a spiral staircase to climb but we used the lift!!! All 4 of us had a great holiday. Sozopol is a lovely little place - reminded me a bit of Nessebar when we visited it 11 years ago. I hope the it does not go by way of Nessebar and become too overdeveloped. I would definately go to this hotel and again

  Villa List by Dermot Hanwy on 24 Aug 2007, 21:03 The Villa List claims to be a 4 star hotel. We booked and paid a deposit for 2 rooms with sea views. On arrival we were told that our request for a sea view was a "wish" and not a "requirement" and we couldn't have them!! This is a common problem with the Villa List as we heard numerous guests complain about the same thing. The air conditioning didn't work properly, the bathrooms are tiny and in need of renovation. You must pay extra to use facilities such as internet, jacuzzi, steam rooms etc. They even charged us 2 lev (1 Euro) for a broken glass!! There is no pool bar which means a 2 storey climb to get a drink. This is a 4 star hotel with a 1 star mentality - Avoid it.

  brilliant holiday - absolutely no faults by p.mcdonald on 29 Jun 2007, 08:40 we spent 2 weeks at the villa list, had a fantastic time. the staff are so polite and make an effort to speak to you. food basic, but you are gaurenteed that on pretty much holiday you go on. there was plenty of food on our buffet-style breakfasts. all varieties of fruit, pastries, scrambled/boiled eggs, toasts, bread, buns, a selection of meats etc. you could certainly never starve there! we didnt stay in the hotel for our evening meal which was included in our half board stay, but on the rare occasion that we tried the evening meal, had no complaints. certainly plenty to please all! the rooms were so clean, our maid maria came in every day, changed the sheets every day, gave us clean towels and mopped the foor. there was no live entertainment in the evening in the hotel, which meant you had to go and look for evening entertainment else where other than the hotel. however this would have been perfect if you are looking for a quiet hotel. would easily go back to the villa list, 10/10 for everything!
