Chepelare is one of the most beautiful little towns in Bulgaria. It is situated on both banks of the Chaya river in the Rhodopi mountain. Chepelare is located at a distance of 230 km from the capital Sofia, 70 km from Plovdiv and 10 km away from the famous Pamporovo resort. Chepelare like Pamporovo is well known ski center offering excellent opportunities for skiing and snowboard from mid-December till mid-April. The town also became famous as the birthplace of the first Bulgarian gold medallist in biathlon from the Winter Olympics in Nagano'98 - Ekaterina Dafovska. The town is an interesting ethnographic and folklore reserve with exceptionally beautiful nature.
