Olympic Champion Ekaterina Dafovska will give the official start of the ski season in the picturesque town of Chepelare on December 13.
The Rhodopes resort is a beloved site for fast and long skiing. It has a sports school teaching some of Bulgaria's best athletes in ski sports, including biathlon-runner Ekaterina Dafovska.
All ski facilities are ready to welcome tourists who will be pleased to find five slopes to ski down, the local union of hoteliers and restaurant owners announced.
Chepelare has enlarged accommodation facilities as well with two new hotels increasing the bedspace to 1000.
On the eve of ski season opening, Chepelare will also have a tourist information centre.
Chepelare occupies a small valley at the heart of the Rhodopes Mountain, with a pretty river passing through the town. Chepelare is 222 km away from Sofia and just 10 km away from Pamporovo resort.
